22 Month old started early waking

Postby pigeonpair on 22 Jul 2010, 08:14

My little guy has always been great in the mornings and up until about a week ago would sleep until 7am and quite often even later. He is now up and ready to go, no chance of resettling, at 6am or a little before. This is just too early for our household particularly when he wakes my other child who is then all tired and cranky.
He still has a day sleep of 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours and goes to bed at 7pm. Do I need to drop/shorten day sleep or put to bed later? Maybe it's what he's been eating? What's the ruling on protein meal etc?

Thanks so much!

Hi,

Sorry I don't have any suggestions, but I also have a 22 1/2 month old and he has just started waking early! So at least you are not alone!

I read the part about early wakings in Sheyne's book and still haven't had any luck. For us it doesn't happen EVERY morning, but more often than not at the moment. This morning it was actually 5am which is way too early for my liking!

We do have another baby due any day now and I wondered if it was a bit of a reaction knowing that something was going to change in his little world, but then I also thought maybe a growth spurt. He seems hungry when he wakes.

Sorry, I can't be helpful. Hopefully someone who has experienced this at this age can help us out.
